Aliens Part Two

January 25th, 2010

“I suspect there could be life and intelligence out there in forms that we can’t conceive. And there could, of course, be forms of intelligence beyond human capacity, beyond as much as we are beyond a chimpanzee,” says Lord Rees, President of the Royal Society and Astronomer Royal.

His comments were made today as scientists gather in London to discuss the prospect of discovering extra-terrestrial life.

Statistically the odds are favorable for finding life on other planets.

I always had high hopes for Mars as it looked as if it may contain water. When you start talking about forms of intelligence beyond human capacity, I think we would need to look beyond our Solar System.

Some years ago I went to a lecture by Timothy Good when he was promoting his new book Alien Base: Earth’s Encounters with Extraterrestrials.

He had interesting stories to tell about alleged human contact with Extraterrestrials. Unfortunately for him and us the definitive proof always seemed to escape his contactees grasp.

Unless something fantastic happens, it looks like we will need to put our faith in science/astronomers to provide the answer.

    Cheers

I have a Timothy Good book on the shelf (unread), but for some irrationally prejudiced reason I’ve never bought contactee stories.
